When you are moving to a new home, you will undoubtedly have kitchenware that you are taking with you. There is a surprising amount of things that you will need to think about when you are transporting your kitchenware to your new home. Proper consideration can lead to making your moving process a lot easier and reducing the risk of things breaking. This article will cover some of the things that you should consider when you are transporting your kitchenware.

Protection

There are a lot of breakable things that belong in the kitchen. From glasses to plates, you will want to make sure that everything that can get easily damaged is properly protected. There are a few different risks to your kitchenware that you will need to be aware of and address. For one, you will have to protect against scratches. Items that are vulnerable to scratches should be wrapped in something, so that if anything scratches against them, the wrapping gets scratched and not the kitchenware. You will also have to be aware of chips and breaks for kitchenware that is brittle, such as glass and porcelain. The primary cause of chips and breaks will be items knocking into each other. To prevent this from happening, you will want to put something between such items to absorb the impact and to stop them from moving around too much. An example of something that can be effective for this is bubble wrap.

Sorting

When you are packing your kitchenware for your move, you will want to put like things together. There are a few reasons for this. Firstly, if you want to get any individual item out at any point, having things sorted in this way will help you to find what you need. Secondly, by grouping things together you can streamline your unpacking by putting everything from one box into the same space. This will prevent you having to move around a lot between different cupboards and drawers which would waste a lot of time.

Space Efficiency

One of the most difficult things to do when packing your kitchenware for your move is to be efficient with the space that you have available. Plates and bowls are one thing, but when you get to packing pots, pans, lids, utensils and containers of all shapes and sizes, it gets a lot more complicated. To be as efficient as possible, you are going to have to be creative. The rule of thumb with space efficiency as always is to reduce the amount of empty space as much as possible. There are a few things that you can do to help with this. You want to look at the geometry of what you have to pack and try to fit things inside of other things as often as possible. With cutlery, the biggest waste of space is going to be if everything is spread out. To help with this, you may want to cluster like things together and hold them in clusters with masking tape or something else. This also serves the function of making it easier to unpack later as you can take out these clusters.
